IDOC Staffer Dies From COVID-19

Officials are confirming that a staff member for the Illinois Department of Corrections has died from COVID-19.  The staffer is the only IDOC employee to die from the virus so far.  The employee worked at the Vienna Correctional Center in Southern Illinois.  There have been 35 COVID-19-related inmate deaths at IDOC facilities, and 16 offenders are hospitalized with the virus with five on ventilators.  One staff member is also hospitalized.
