Illinois Pondering Changes to Police Certification Process

State officials are still looking into changing from police certification to licensing officers.  The possible change is in response to recent social unrest, acting as a more transparent system around self-reporting misconduct.  The Senate Criminal Law and Special Committee on Public Safety held their ninth meeting on the subject Thursday, though it involved little action.  Some law enforcement agencies are still resistant to the change.
