A new high-impact and long-term project in which business leaders engage community members in revitalizing their neighborhoods, one block at a time has been announced. Decatur Block by Block announced in a release their goal that revitalizing our neighborhoods can be achieved if we are willing to take ownership of the solution by creating connections.
Their first project REFRESH is focused on the Nelson Park Neighborhood. Saturday, October 17th – 10 am to 3:30 pm, Block by Block Board members and volunteers will be working to upgrade the curb appeal of two homes located in Nelson Park Neighborhood; 601 S. 23rd Place and 2317 E. Wood Street. Project activities include gutter repairs, porch repairs, landscape upgrades and fresh paint. There also will be a dumpster provided to remove trash and promote neighborhood clean-up. This project is made possible thanks to the donations made by Hickory Point Bank & Trust, State Farm Agents Melanie and Al Shelling, Lowe’s Home Improvement Center and Heartland Technical Academy Industrial Arts Students.
