On September 27, 2020, Macon County Health Department leadership became aware of a diagnosed case of COVID-19 associated with our organization. Out of an abundance of caution, the facility is closed this Monday, September 28th, for thorough cleaning and disinfecting of appropriate areas. Any services scheduled to be received at the Macon County Health Department or via curbside on Monday, September 28th will be rescheduled. TB patients previously-scheduled to be seen on Monday should come at the same time on Tuesday.
Upon notification of this confirmed case, contact tracing began to determine close contacts of this confirmed case. The exposure was determined to be low risk and if there are close contacts, they will be contacted directly by the Macon County Health Department. The confirmed case is in isolation at this time.
Meanwhile, the MCHD announced 40 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday while the Illinois Department of Public Health Sunday reported 1,604 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 14 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 287,930 cases, including 8,601 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from September 20 – September 26 is 3.7%. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 50,822 specimens for a total of 5,479,510. As of last night, 1,486 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 350 patients were in the ICU and 144 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
