According to an official release, the 2020 Let’s Keep Decatur Bee-utiful Contest is now open and accepting entries from area businesses and organizations.
“So many of our local businesses are putting so much work into beautifying our city – this contest was created as a way to support those efforts,” said Jill Davis, co-chair of the Beautify Decatur Coalition, which organizes the contest. “In a year like this, it’s even more important to build upon their work toward enhancing Decatur.”
Now in its 10th year, Let’s Keep Decatur Bee-utiful strives to highlight businesses who have a welcoming presence and to encourage all Decatur businesses to develop an attractive front to the public.
Businesses can enter in one of four categories, and winners receive a prize and special award. The categories for 2020 are:
- Best Use of Flowers (winner receives a Striglos Desk Chair worth $500+ AND One Free Papa Murphy’s Pizza a Month for a Year)
- Best Landscape (winner receives $500 Landscaping/Flowers from Connie’s Country Greenhouse)
- Best Signage (winner receives $500 Speed Lube Service Gift Card)
- Most Litter-Free (winner receives $500 Garbage Service OR Roll-Off Container from Advanced Disposal)
In addition, entrants will be eligible to win the Most Popular award (winner receives $500 Lowe’s Gift Card AND Wheelbarrow Full of $250 Worth of Garden Tools). This business has the WOW factor and is showcased easily in the photo as the most bee-utiful business! The public will vote online to determine the winner of this award. Businesses are encouraged to share their submission link on social media and encourage people to vote for them.
In October, contest judges – Busy Bees – will visit entrants to determine the top businesses in each category.
Registration runs through September 30, 2020, and is free for any business or organization. To enter, visit www.BeautifyDecatur.com/lkdb.
