The Illinois Department of Public Health Wednesday announced 2,157 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 37 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 225,627 cases, including 7,954 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 50,362 specimens for a total of 3,831,412. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from August 19 – August 25 is 4.0%. As of last night, 1,573 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 350 patients were in the ICU and 132 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
Meanwhile, the Macon County Health Department has extended the free COVID-19 testing program happening at the Decatur Civic Center. Testing will be available from 8 until 4 each day through August 30th. There is no cost, face masks are required as is a valid phone number and test results will be available in approximately a week. No appointment it necessary and tests are taking place in the Decatur Civic Center Parking lot at 1 Gary K Anderson Plaza. Those with and without symptoms are eligible for the test.
