Three seats on the Decatur City Council will be open in the next election and petitions to run for one of them will be available beginning today, Tuesday, August 25th.
Councilmen David Horn, Chuck Kuhle, and Pat McDaniel’s terms all expire in 2021, and while Horn has indicated he plans to run for re-election in 2021, McDaniel and Kuhle have not confirmed if they will seek another term. Petitions will be available starting at 8 am at the City Clerks office at the Decatur Civic Center, 1 Gary K. Anderson Plaza. Petitions can also be found at the city’s website. You can find the page HERE. Candidates for City Council must be 18 years of age, a resident of Decatur, be a registered voter, and petitions must have the signatures of 85 registered Decatur voters. Nominating petitions can be filed starting 8 am Monday, November 16th until Monday, November 23rd at 5 pm.
