Officials at Illinois State University say a student living in a residence hall has tested positive for COVID-19. The university hasn’t identified the student or which hall the student was living in. Spokesperson Eric Jome says the student was asked to leave campus and self-isolate temporarily at home. Jome also says the university is ready to act if other students test positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, Illinois State University is moving forward with a plan for COVID-19 surveillance testing. The Board of Trustees approved a five-month partnership with Reditus Laboratories to test students not suffering from COVID-19 symptoms. The effort will cost over three-million dollars, and about 30-thousand tests are expected to be completed by December 31st at on-campus locations.
