Illinois Officials Release 2019 Drowning Numbers

Illinois officials are warning caregivers to be careful with children around water.  The Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Department of Children and Family Services released data yesterday saying 22 children accidentally drowned in the state in 2019.  The CDC reports that accidental drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children between one and four as well as the second leading cause for kids between five and fifteen.
