The Greater Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce has postponed Scarecrow Daze scheduled for October 10th, 2020.
In a statement posted to Facebook the Greater Shelbyville Chamber said they waited as long as possible to make this decision. Although the Governor has begun to relax some restrictions, they say there is no way to social distance during Scarecrow Daze activities that attracts hundreds of people, as well as the unpredictability of what the future holds.
The Chamber says they are very mindful of the economic impact that Scarecrow Daze has on the community. We know that many of our locally-owned and operated small business are suffering financially at the moment and need our support now more than ever.
They said they have also reached the point in planning where the obligations to sponsors, vendors, and other partners required the attention they deserve to make their own business decisions.
The Chamber is working to explore ways to safely have a smaller scale event downtown later this fall.
