The COVID-19 pandemic is leading the University of Illinois to close some of its handicap accessible rooms in one of its dorms. University officials released a statement saying that the decision to close Beckwith Residential Support Services for the fall semester was difficult. The move closes off about 20 rooms on the first floor of Nugent Hall to students with disabilities. Officials say staff needed to reopen the support services couldn’t be trained because of COVID-19. The university says it is working to provide students who use Beckwith services other on-campus living options.
