A consumer Economics educator at the University of Illinois Extension says checking your credit report is even more important than your credit score. The Extension’s Kathy Sweedler says it’s very important to review your credit report and protect yourself from identity theft. She says normally you can view your credit report from each of the three credit bureaus once a year, but because of the pandemic, you can check it once a week through April 2021.
She also says it’s a good idea to carefully go over your report to make sure your personal information is correct and that accounts listed are indeed yours.
