Recount In Macon County Sheriff’s Race Underway

The recount in the Macon County 2018 race for sheriff is underway.  Tony Brown was initially declared the winner over Jim Root by one vote.  Macon County Clerk Josh Tanner is overseeing the recount.  Both parties involved have the opportunity to object to votes they find questionable.  Those votes will be counted and sent in a final report to the circuit judge in the case.  The process is expected to take three or four weeks.
