Law enforcement in Decatur arrested a man Tuesday afternoon after a police chase that ended on Hickory Street, East of Jasper. The chain of events began when a car was pulled over at shortly after 1 in the afternoon at Hickory and Lowber streets when the driver got out and ran into a nearby house according to police.
Decatur police then surrounded the home and seven people inside, including the driver, came out according to police. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the home and found two illegally possessed firearms and suspected controlled substances in the house.
The driver, age 27, was arrested on preliminary charges of unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
