Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is helping small businesses hit by vandalism and looting from local protests. In a briefing from Chicago, the governor said the Department of Insurance released a bulletin today to state insurers, which will outline expectations involving expediting claims and providing advanced payments. In addition, he said insurers will be called on to implement a temporary hold on the “cancellation or non-renewal of impacted policyholders” for 60 days. Pritzker added insurers must do the right thing to help local services reopen as soon as possible. Insurance companies will be watched closely and the governor said he will hold any “bad actors” accountable.
