Alternate care facilities being set up for COVID-19 response

State health officials are preparing alternate COVID-19 care facilities.

The focal point of the efforts has been McCormick Place convention center.  It is set up to treat 500 non-intensive care coronavirus patients, with plans to expand the capacity to 3,000 by the end of the month.

It is one of five planned alternate care facilities announced by Governor Pritzker.
