The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is explaining why it shut down a COVID-19 testing site before it had a chance to open.
The drive-thru testing would have taken place at the First Christian Church. Church leaders say they received an overwhelming number of calls about the tests and were concerned whether CDC guidelines were going to be followed. Doctor Tom Pliura was going to oversee the site and had planned to offer tests to anyone, which is against guidelines.
