Governor Pritzker announced over the weekend he has enacted stricter social distancing guidelines for grocery stores in Illinois. He said he is working with the Illinois Retail Merchants Association to create “a new best practice” and procedures for grocery stores.
New measures will now include cashier barriers and six-foot markers placed on floors to mark out spaces for customers to stand at checkouts. Stores are now being encouraged to prohibit reusable bags as well as to shift focus to delivery services and curbside pickup.
