Yesterday was the first of three scheduled donation days for masks and other PPE at the Decatur Civic Center. The event was put on by the Macon County Crisis Communication Team and there will be at least two more events. They are scheduled for the following Thursdays (April 2 and April 9, 2020).
The items needed for this drive are: boxed, unused surgical type masks (N95 masks) but also clean handmade sewn masks, hand sanitizer, bleach and/or alcohol wipes, wrapped or boxed gowns as well as exam gloves.
For those looking to make masks, here is a link with instructions to follow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueWkAuY3k6Y&feature=youtu.be
The Crisis Communication team recommends placing handmade masks in a Ziploc bag, with 25 per bag.
Please, if you’re looking to donate, take items to the Civic Center on a designated drop off day and do not bring them directly to hospitals or clinics.
