State officials are warning consumers to be on the lookout for price gouging. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul has created a website where people can go to report unnecessary spikes in prices. Raoul’s office has reported that it is aware of several instances where price gouging was severe.
Wednesday, Raoul’s office announced efforts with a bipartisan group including 32 other attorney generals that would urge retailers such as Amazon, Walmart and eBay as well as platforms on Facebook and Craigslist to “rigorously monitor price gouging practices by online sellers using their services.”
