A local Decatur man is trying to solve some of the issues of COVID-19.
Jesse Blunt announced on Facebook that he is currently working with Richland Community College and the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur as well as Macon County to create a 3D printed prototype for an N95 mask that can be disinfected and reused.
Jesse Blunt is a Decatur resident who has been working with John Oliver after he brought printers to youth camps years back.
The masks will be made with an inner honeycomb filter and are coated with 100 percent copper.
If Jesse’s design works it could help local healthcare workers and help fix the issue of lack of personal protection equipment (PPE).
If the product is approved Jesse will take a printer home and begin mass producing as many masks as possible.
