In the offset of the major financial crisis that is being brought about due to the COVID-19 Epidemic, policymakers and the treasury are all trying to create plans that would help give the nation’s economy a stimulus boost.
The proposal that the treasury is talking about would give $500B to Americans in an attempt to help increase spending and save small business as well as other operations. This plan is similar to ones being brought up across the board.
GOP Sen. Mitt Romney’s idea for $1,000 checks to be sent to all Americans is along the same lines as what would happen.
The Treasury’s Proposal would have direct payments that would go to U.S. citizens only, and would be “tiered based on income level and family size.” There would be two same payments, the first proposed to happen in April and the second in May.
The proposal still needs approval and currently there are many other groups the government is considering paying as they try to keep the economy from crumbling and to stop the same mistakes that happened in 2008 from happening.
