Tuesday afternoon Governor J.B. Pritzker held another media conference to talk about the COVID-19 Epidemic.
Pritzker addressed the first death to happen from COVID-19 in Illinois. The death occurred in a 60 year old woman resident of Chicago.
Pritzker also spent time referencing the dine-in ban that took effect late last night. Stating that delivery and curbside pickup is an option for many restaurants and that people should find out what methods are available to them.
Along with the dine-in ban, Pritzker also referenced the barring on gatherings of 50 people or more, but elaborated that places where it is mandatory to gather like pharmacies, gas stations, banks etc… are not affected by the ban.
There was also talk about how the national government needs to help. A statewide economic injury declaration has been sent to the U.S. Small Business Administration. With the need for financial help from the federal government, Pritzker also demanded that federal government needs to help give the proper testing kits or we will be forced to find them another way.
Voting was also brought up as Pritzker said that there would be no push back on Tuesday’s current voting.
160 cases have been reported in Illinois as of Tuesday March 17.
