Two California men who were arrested by Macon County deputies on Tuesday were in possession of 162 pounds of marijuana. The men were stopped on I-72 near the Decatur Conference Center and Hotel. The driver, Vincent Johnson, struggled to line up his story and officers become suspicious. Soon after, a K-9 unit was brought in.
After the K-9 alerted on the vehicle, deputies searched the vehicle and along with a large amount of marijuana, another man was found hiding under a blanket. Joshua Fitch said he was a hitchhiker but was found to be involved with the trafficking.
Both men have been charged with the Class X felony of trafficking more than 5,000 grams of cannabis.
