A new bill is proposing changed to the Firearms Owners Identification Card Act and the Illinois Insurance Code.
An amendment was introduced to the measures that would require gun owners to have at least $1 million dollars in liability insurance in case of accidental injuries due to firearms. Those applying for or renewing a FOID card would be required to show proof of insurance coverage.
Their card could be suspended if there was a lapse in coverage.
