A plane crashed yesterday in Sangamon County. Just after 3 p.m., Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport notified local police that a plane had gone down in the 4100 block of Garry Drive. There were no survivors.
Among those on the plane were former Springfield mayor Frank Edwards, as well as his wife, the Sangamon County coroner, Cinda. John Evans was named as the third passenger. A dog was also on board.
The plane was bound for the airport but crashed approximately seven miles to the Southeast of its destination.
The plane was a twin engine plane that departed from Florida but made a stop for gas in Huntsville, Alabama.
