A 47-year-old Decatur man was arrested after pointing a gun at his family and firing off multiple rounds into the air. The man showed drunk to a house on North Morgan Street, looking for his ex-wife. He was escorted from the premises by a male family member.
When they got outside, he pointed the the gun at the man escorting him and then fired upwards of seven shots into the air.
The man then fled and was chased by police, but refused to stop. He refused the orders of officers and was taken down by a K9 unit. When subdued, he denied knowing about a gun but did admit to arguing with his family.
He has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, resisting a peace officer and unlawful possession of a firearm.
