A 17-year-old Decatur driver will be charged as an adult after driving under the influence and crashing his car into a house and killing the 87-year-old resident who was inside.
Micaiah Barton is facing two charges of aggravated DUI causing death. His preliminary hearing has been set for December 18th. Barton is being held at Peoria County Juvenile Center currently because juveniles cannot be held with adult prisoners.
The crash happened back on November 22nd on East Locust Street. Barton’s vehicle struck a gas line and started a fire. Mary Hinton died of inhalation of smoke and soot.
