The Defense Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Accounting Agency announced the remains of Decatur soldier Asa Vance have been accounted for. Vance was killed in the Korean War and his remains were not able to be recovered at the time.
During the 2018 summit between the U.S. and North Korea, Kim Jong-Un returned 55 boxes supposedly containing the remains of 55 American service members.
Vance’s burial will be May 1, 2020.
There are still 7,605 Americans unaccounted for from the time of the Korean War.
