A warrant has been issued for Charles Gardner for first-degree murder. Gardner is alleged to have killed Cody on August 9, 2018 outside of the Winery. Cody was stabbed to death after two men entered the gaming area while Cody was playing a machine. The men told Drew to bet more money to win more money and after Drew began winning, he refused to share his $150 winnings with the men.
Ray James, an acquaintance of Gardner, was the first to face charges but those charges were eventually dropped. According to the Illinois Department of corrections, Gardner is being held at the Lawrence Correctional Center.
