Officers recognized Kioshe McGowan in the street on Leafland Avenue and stopped him, knowing he was on parole, late Monday evening. When asked to stop, McGowan ignore police and ran. Police noticed McGowan ditch an item in the middle of the street which turned out to be a handgun.
When questioned about the weapon, McGowan said he found it and held on to it to use as protection.
Prior to this, McGowan had been convicted of felony possession of a firearm, armed robbery and manufacture/delivery of heroin. He now faces charges for violating parole, possession of a firearm by a felon and being an armed habitual criminal. His bail is set at $250,000.
