A man who is pleading not guilty to the crime of sexual assault of a girl younger than 13 had a judge rule in his favor that prosecutors will not be able to call a second victim forward to testify against him for sexual abuse she claims happened 30 years ago.
William Dillman Senior’s attorney was in agreement with the judge that, for a fair trial, the prior victim’s claims were too prejudiced. Dillman is on trial for criminal sexual assault after a November 2018 incident in which a preteen accused Dillman of fondling her breasts. The second victim, age 41, then came forward after the child’s allegations. The woman claimed to be a victim of a series of assaults from Dillman when she was a similar age as the preteen. At the time, she informed her mother but did not notify police.
The judge sided with Dillman and his lawyer, giving him a pretrial victory.
