A traffic stop turned into police subduing a man with a stun gun twice before taking him into custody. Police also seized an illegal handgun.
A vehicle was pulled over this morning at 12:08 a.m. on East Harrison Avenue for running a stop sign. The officer noticed the driver became very nervous and began to tremble. The officer then ordered two men out of the vehicle and found a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat. At that point, the driver fled on foot but was met by the officer’s backup and their stun gun. The driver continued to resist and was stunned a second time before surrendering.
The man was booked on charges of aggravated unlawful use on an unlicensed weapon, resisting and obstructing police as well as disobeying a stop sign.
