Governor Pritzker’s new gas bill went into effect today. The bill was signed on Friday and there a noticeable increase in the price of a gallon of gas. What was 19 cents per gallon has now doubled to 38 cents per gallon.
Diesel, while having a much more slight increase, still increased by five cents as gallon as well.
The governor has stated that his plan is to use the money from the tax on infrastructure. The increase is the first time since the 1990’s that the gas tax has increased.
