An update of the trial:
Brendt Christensen was found guilty on Monday for kidnapping and murdering Yingying in June of 2017. His lawyers now say he had offered to plead guilty and reveal to prosecutors the location of Zhang’s remains. His defense team filed a motion on Tuesday to not reveal the testimony to Yingying’s family because of his track record of lying.
On July 8th, the sentencing for Christensen will begin. He will either receive the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
