The Macon County State’s Attorney is preparing to expunge non-violent marijuana arrests. This comes in the wake of Illinois becoming the 11th state to legalize recreational marijuana. The Illinois State Police are in the process of sorting out those eligible to be cleared of their charges.
It will not be an overnight expungement, however. The Illinois State Police have thousands of cases across the state’s 102 counties to cover thoroughly for those who are eligible. After that, State’s Attorneys from the 102 counties will present cases to courts to have inmates formally expunged.
