An executive signed by Governor Pritzker will attempt to get an accurate count of people across the state.
Federal funding the state receives could be negatively impacted by an under-count. It could also have an impact on Illinois’ representation in Congress.
Executive order 19-10 will set up a new Census office in the Illinois Department of Human Services. It would also include a bipartisan, bicameral Census Advisory Panel.
The state has invested $29 million in the 2020 census.
