Governor Pritzker has new bills waiting for his signature. These would affect both current and potential teachers in Illinois.
Two of the bills would temporarily get rid of the basic skills test as a requirement for a teaching license. The Senate bill version of a bill would allow student teachers to be paid. Yet another bill would allow retired teachers to return to work in short-staff subjects without affecting their benefits.
