Marcus Flagg Jr. was sentenced on May 21st. He took a plea deal which saw him plead guilty to aggravated battery, which is a class 3 felony, but additional charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle were subsequently dropped.
An affidavit says the shooting happened on July 15 of 2018. The victim told police he was passing through the intersection of East Stuart St. and N. Warren when a man tried to flag him down. The victim said the man then leaned through the passenger window and starting asking strange questions which worried the victim. Flagg then pointed a handgun at him, which prompted the man to grab the gun and drive away. As he did so, Flagg discharged the gun which resulted in the man being hit in the bicep and the hand.
