Illinois state lawmakers are evaluating the battery of test prospective teachers must take to be licensed.  Legislators argue the test deter many college students from entering the profession.  A Senate committee advanced a bill late last week to eliminate the basic skills test from the state’s licensing requirements.  A House education committee is also focusing on several tests required by the state.
