Fifteen-dollars-an-hour in Chicago is much different than 15-dollars-an-hour in Central Illinois. A number of downstate business owners are asking Illinois lawmakers to keep that in mind as they push to raise the minimum wage in the state. Business owners were at the Capitol yesterday to press for a regional minimum wage that pays about eleven-dollars-an-hour instead. But, Democrats who want a 15-dollar-minimum-wage in the state say people shouldn’t be punished for living outside the Chicago-area.
