MACON COUNTY SHERIFF’S LOOKING FOR SUSPECT THAT FLED FROM SCENE

Macon County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a suspect that initially was in a traffic stop but quickly speed away, then wrecked the vehicle ( a 2000 Chevrolet Impala) at the corner of West Macon and South Crea st.   When officers arrived a moment later to the scene of the wreck, witnesses said the person had fled and the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle. Police then spotted a person that matched the suspect’s description running in the opposite direction. Police then apprehended the person. The next set of witnesses, as well as the officer that initiated the traffic stop, stated the person in custody was not the driver of the vehicle. Police are asking for anyone with information to please contact the police department.
