The man who was in charge of the decrepit public housing complexes in Cairo, Illinois is being ordered to pay a half-million dollar fine for living large on someone else’s dime. The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development says they came to an agreement with former Alexander County Housing Authority Executive Director James Wilson. He was charged with misspending almost a million dollars in public money. HUD says Wilson will instead repay the agency 500 thousand-dollars.
