(Champaign, IL) — Investigators in Champaign say DNA on a cigarette butt helped close a nine-year-old murder case. Champaign County Sheriff Dan Walsh Thursday said they’ve made an arrest in the 2009 murder of Holly Cassano, who was raped and stabbed about 60 times. Walsh says investigators used DNA to narrow-in on 30-year-old Michael Henslick, then used DNA from a cigarette butt to link him to the case. Henslick went to school with Cassano, but Walsh isn’t offering a motive in the case. Henslick is being held on 10 million dollars bond.
