A longtime Macon County correctional officer has been dismissed following his arrest in Decatur. James Davis, who had served since October 2000, was taken into custody last week at the Circle K on West Eldorado Street. According to police, Davis faces DUI and additional charges. After initially being placed on administrative leave, officials confirmed his termination this Monday. Davis is scheduled to appear in court for his first hearing next Tuesday. The sheriff’s office has not released further comment, emphasizing that personnel matters are handled according to department policy and in consideration of public trust.
