Illinois is honoring every State Police Officer killed in the line of duty with new standardized memorial signs along state roadways. Announced on Illinois Trooper Day, the initiative unites the State Police, Department of Transportation, Tollway, and Heritage Foundation to ensure every sacrifice is formally recognized. Over the coming months, uniform signs will be erected for all 73 fallen troopers, dating back to Trooper Albert J. Hasson in 1924. These markers aim to remind passing drivers of the dedication and bravery of law enforcement officers who protect Illinois communities.
