Illinois State Police Troop 7 recently concluded Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrols in Macon and Vermilion Counties. Led by Captain Heather Apperson, officers focused on identifying and addressing violations related to impaired driving and the unlawful transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs. Alcohol and drug impairment contribute to over 47% of fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, with one alcohol-related traffic death occurring every 39 minutes nationwide. The ACE program, supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation, aims to increase safety by removing dangerous DUI offenders from the roads, furthering efforts to reduce preventable tragedies across the state.
