Illinois leaders have joined forces with officials from 23 other states in a lawsuit aimed at stopping President Trump’s newly announced tariffs. The challenge follows a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision, which deemed his earlier tariffs illegal. Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield, a key figure in this legal action, cited a Federal Reserve Bank of New York study showing that Americans are footing nearly 87 percent of the tariff bill. The coalition is urging the U.S. Court of International Trade to halt these tariffs, arguing that the 1974 Trade Act, invoked by the administration, has never been used in this manner before.
