Illinois residents participating in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program are now seeing expanded options in their grocery aisles. The Illinois Department of Human Services announced that WIC’s food package offerings were broadened last month to better meet the diverse needs of families across the state. Officials describe the update as “culturally responsive,” aiming to provide more variety that reflects the state’s growing populations. These changes started on February 25th and affect over 175,000 people in Illinois. The revised program is expected to make it easier for families to find foods that align with their dietary preferences and traditions.
