Decatur police have arrested 18-year-old James E. Capler Jr. in connection with a September shooting that left a father injured while his children were home. The late-night gunfire struck a house on West Center Street, with four bullet holes found and a bullet recovered from the living room. Police say gunpowder residue tests linked Capler to the incident, resulting in his arrest on weapons-related charges. The motive remains unclear, according to the arrest warrant. Capler faces charges including aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery. His next court date has not yet been set, according to Macon County records.
